Meet the Designer - Oli Puhl

Blogger: Oli Puhl

Hi, I'm Oli,

I live in Germany (close to Berlin) with my husband Carsten and my daughter Leonora (6) in a castle. Seriously. I actually live in an apartment inside a castle, but it sounds like a fairy tale.

As a child I wanted to be a fashion designer. I sketched clothing designs for myself, and tried to sew them by hand, because we never had a sewing machine. It's exciting to see my childhood dream come full circle.

I'm a stay-at-home mum at the moment and previously worked as a marketing manager for a research institute.

Before I started sewing, I was a food blogger and a food lover. I also enjoy photography as much as sewing, and I love traveling around the world.

My sewing journey began in 2015 with pants for Leonora. Nothing from the store fit Leonora properly, so I set off to make my own bottoms. The first attempt was a disaster; one side was longer than the other. A few weeks later I made comfy pants for myself and immediately caught the sewing bug; 98% of Leonora's and 80% of my own clothes are handmade. Even my husband loves his handmade clothes.

I found LLK in April 2019. My first patterns were Boise & Birmingham. Boise is still one of my all-time favorites. I'm totally obsessed with maxi dresses for myself and cannot wait to bring my Oli style to Styla.
